I\u2019ve been following the work of Mike Geno for several years-even though he\u2019s known for food portraits, I had a print of Geno\u2019s Pope Benedict XVI wearing a Phillies jacket hanging in my bathroom for years. When I saw he was having a painting workshop at the Free Library\u2019s Culinary Literacy Center, Michael and I signed up right away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I haven\u2019t developed any real painting technique, and had been looking to do one of those fun \u201cpainting with a twist\u201d things. This was a very upgraded version of that-a professional artist setting you up for success to paint your own painting with his advice and direction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The class was held in an upper level of the Parkway Central Library , which has a ton of natural light. Various cheese \u201cmodels\u201d were distributed around the tables. I was lucky to get one with bleu veining. We were fed cheese throughout class, and there was also a fancy wine pairing component. I was too into the painting to pay attention to anything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
